10 die ,others injured as bus rammed into truck on Lagos Ibadan-Express road

No fewer than 10 persons lost their lives while few others were injured in an accident involving a Mack truck and a Toyota Hiace on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

The accident occurred at Oniworo area of Ogun State on the Expressway.

The Ogun Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Mr Ahmed Umar, who confirmed the accident said it happened at 4.30am.

He added that the truck obstructed the road and due to speeding the bus driver lost control of the vehicle and rammed into the truck from the rear.

Umar gave the number plate of the bus as KLD 539 XA, while the truck had no visible number plate.

He said, ”a total of 19 people were involved in the crash which comprised 13 male adults and six female adults.Two male adults sustained injuries,while seven male adults, two female adults ,and one female child died in the accident,” he said.

Umar stated that the injured victims were taken to a private hospital, at Ogere for medical attention while the deceased were deposited at Ipara morgue.

He appealed to motorists to drive with caution due to the hazy weather.

He warned motorists, especially truck drivers, to always display caution signs whenever their vehicles developed mechanical faults on the highway.
