The Police have arrested 12 members of a syndicate that allegedly kidnapped Hajiya Hauwa Yusuf, mother in law to Katsina State governor, Aminu Masari.
65- years -old Hajiya Yusuf was abducted recently by gunmen, but she was later released after a ransom was paid by her family. The suspects were also alleged to be responsible for robberies and kidnappings within Katsina, Kano and Zamfara States.


A police officer who spoke on the condition of anonymity as he was not supposed to speak to the press said : ” Sequel to the recent Kidnapping of the mother-in-law of governor Aminu Bello Masari of Katsina State at her residence in Katsina, IGP Adamu Mohammed ordered operatives of the Intelligence Response Team ( IRT) attached to Operation Puff Adder to launched a massive manhunt of the kidnappers and after serious and unrelenting follow up, the notorious syndicate of Kidnappers including their arms and ammunition supplier were arrested .

The arms and hard drugs supplier confessed to the kidnapping and other armed robberies on the axis. The gang leader and the mastermind of the kidnapping were also in police net.

“One AK47 rifle, 22 magazines, 1,000 Ak47 live ammunition, 200 cartridges, Some phones belonging to the victims, including the phone used for ransom negotiation and two motorcycles which they used for their operations were equally recovered from the suspects by IRT “.
