Two robbers who specialised in motorcycle snatching, were yesterday, lynched and burnt to ashes at Fatgbems Bus Stop, along with the Oshodi-Apapa Expressway, Mile 2, Lagos.
According to witnesses, the two ill-fated robbers were said to have attacked an Okada rider in the early hours of yesterday, in a bid to snatch a motorcycle from him. However, they were not lucky as some roadside hawkers, who were at the LaCacera Company early in the morning to get supplies for the day’s sale, saw them inflicting machete cuts on the cyclist and raised the alarm.

“The robbers gave the cyclist the first cut on the back of his head. The victim blocked the second cut, which was targeted at his forehead, and that again gave him another deep cut. At that point, some hawkers who had gone to the LaCacera Company to get products for the day’s business saw what was happening and raised the alarm.
“Knowing that their game was up, the robbers took to their heels. One ran into the Amuwo Odofin Estate through Dubar Road by Fatgbems Fuel Station, while the other ran towards Mile 2 Bus Stop along the expressway. Both of them were given a chase, leading to their arrest.

“The group that followed the one that ran into the estate delivered instant jungle justice as soon as they caught the robber, but the other group brought the second robber alive and handed him over to soldiers who parked their van by the side of Fatgbems Fuel Station.
“When the soldiers wanted to go away with the robber that was still alive, the angry mob of Okada riders rose against the move, forcing the soldiers to hand the second robbers to the mob, who instantly lynched him too,” a source said.

The two lynched robbers were alleged to have been set ablaze by a group of angry Okada riders, using tyres and petrol.
When Daily Sun visited the scene of the incident, thick smoke from the burnt bodies was still billowing amid the blazing fire, with some angry Okada riders still throwing stones at the burning bodies. Onlookers watched as the fire burnt the dead bodies of the two robbers. While some people sympathized with them and asked God to grant their souls eternal rest, others were livid with anger and wished that their souls rot in hell.
