Two teachers have been arrested for allegedly using the fingernails and blood of pupils for rituals in Ondo State.
The Ondo State Police Command has identified the suspects as Blessing Omowera and Sola Kalejaye.

According to the police, the duo allegedly collected the fingernails and blood of pupils of Heritage Nursery and Primary School, Ondo town.
While Omowera works at the nursery and primary school, Kalajaye is a teacher in a secondary school in the town.
It was gathered that when one of the pupils got home, she informed her father what the teacher did to her in the school, and the parents reported the matter at the Ondo Area Command, Ondo.

The police public relations officer for the state police command, Mr. Femi Joseph, said the victims were three years old. Mr. Joseph said that Omowera allegedly called the two pupils and cut their fingernails under the pretense of cleaning them up.
He also as the suspect was cutting the fingernails of the pupils, she intentionally cut their hands and blood started gushing out and used a white cloth to clean the blood.

Joseph said, “We were informed that after the suspect (Omowera) had cut the hands of the pupils, she cleaned up the blood with a cloth and took both the blood and fingernails away.

“After she was arrested, she confessed that she was sent by somebody who wanted to use the blood and fingernails for ritual purposes; that was why we arrested the second suspect Kalejaye. Omowera had been charged to court, while Kalejaye is still in our custody undergoing interrogation “.

Father of one of the victims, Mr. Ambrose Akinnodi, called on the state government and rights activists in the country to assist his family in ensuring that justice would be done in the matter.

Cornerstone News gathered that the victims have been withdrawn from the school by their parents.
The police have therefore advised that children should be encouraged to tell their parents everything that transpired in the schools and that teachers should not be allowed to cut the children’s hairs and nails.
