Nigeria thrashed South Africa 3-0 in their opening group B game at the 2019 African Games Women’s football event.

Two first half goals by Captain Monday Gift (5′) and Zainab Olapade (41′) set the Christopher Danjuma well on their way to a comfortable win.

There was no looking back for the team from that point and four minutes after the hour mark, Cynthia Aku smashed home a header to complete the rout.

The win shoots Nigeria to the top of the group and are just a game away from reaching the semi-finals.
