Three Policemen yesterday died in a road accident that occurred on the Enugu- Abakaliki highway, Ebonyi State.
It was gathered that 10 others who were in the police Hilux van also sustained serious injuries.
The officers were returning from the crisis-ravaged Effium community in Ohaukwu Local Government Area of the state on Wednesday when the accident occurred.
A source at the scene of the accident said that the mishap occurred after Ishieke Junction along the Expressway.
The source said the police vehicle skidded off the road and scaled the concrete pavement at the middle of the road.
Ebonyi State Commissioner of Police, Garba Aliyu, said that the injured officers were in the intensive care unit at the Alex Ekwueme University Teaching Hospital Abakaliki(AE-FUTHA)
“Yes, I am in the hospital now, we lost three officers while 10 others are in intensive unit care”,
he said.
