Blackmailer arrested for extorting female victim of N7 million in Ogun

A 25a-years -old man, Adetoro Kazeem, a resident of has been arrested for allegedly blackmailing a female victim and extorting her of N7 million in Ibadan, Oyo State.
The suspect allegedly threatened many times to upload his Victim’s nude photographs on social media if she refused to pay him a certain amount of money.

According to the police, the victim kept paying till she paid a total of N7 million and has no money to pay again and she decided to report the development to the police who apprehended the suspects.

It was not ascertained where the suspect got the nude photographs of the victim and why he picked on her for blackmail.
In a Statement by Ogun State Police Spokesman,DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi,he stated that the a suspect has been arrested at ,”2, Paara street Alakia area of Ibadan by operatives of Ogun state police command for blackmailing and extortion.

“The suspect was arrested following a report by Gloria Ogunnupebi, who reported at Obalende Divisional Headquarters, ijebu ode, that, in the month of May 2021, she received a message from a strange foreign number via a voice note on her WhatsApp that she should send the sum of N200,000 or else her nude photographs would be uploaded on the social media for public consumption.

‘She stated further that, to prevent the caller from exposing her to moral and public ridicule, she sent the said amount to him, with the hope that everything was over. But surprisingly, the person continued demanding money from her every two weeks, and that he has extorted her up to the tune of 7,363,900. She explained further that she decided to report when she got tired of the continuous extortion and started contemplating suicide.

“Upon the report, the DPO Obalende division, SP Salami Murphy, mobilized his crack detectives to go after the suspect. The detectives embarked on intelligence and technical base investigation, and they successfully traced the suspect to his hideout in Ibadan Oyo state, where he was apprehended.

On interrogation, the suspect who confessed to the commission of the crime informed the investigators that he has many OPAY accounts with different names through which he used to receive money from his victims.

“Meanwhile, the commissioner of police Cp Edward Awolowo Ajogun, who commended the detectives for a well-done job has ordered an in-depth investigation into the past activities of the suspect with the view to charging him to court as soon as possible”.
