AFCON ’19: Onazi backs Super Eagles for success in Egypt

Super Eagles midfielder Ogenyi Onazi has backed the national team to win the Africa Cup of Nations based on dedication and hard work, which he believes will help the team go far in the tournament.

Onazi was not part of those chosen by Eagles head coach, Gernot Rohr the tournament proper which begins tomorrow, but remains fully supportive and is backing the rest of his teammates for the ultimate prize on the continent.

The Super Eagles missed two editions of the AFCON after they won it in 2013 in South Africa, and  Onazi, who was part of that team stated that the most important thing for the team is to ensure they win their first two matches, while he believes the players will give everything to succeed.

“Well everyone has been saying a whole lot of things about the group – so many things I have been hearing, but the most important thing  is that when you get the first two games, we do not know how it is going to happen, but we believe that hard work and dedication will get us there”.

“Also I strongly believe the players will be dedicated and give everything to ensure we dd well in Egypt so all the players need is just to win their matches, and when they do, they will find themselves in the right position so am strongly wishing the team all the best”.
