AICE graduates 10 pioneer students in Nigeria

The Alberione Institute of Communication Education AICE has graduated 10 of Its Pioneer Students in Nigeria.
The graduation which took place on Monday, 26 November at the School Campus, Obawole Estate, Iju also fell on the feast day of its founder, Blessed James Alberione.

Catholic Archbishop of Lagos , Rev Alfred Adewale Martin said one of the best legacies parents should bequeath to their children were education and hard work accompanied with the fear of God .
Rt. Rev Monsignor John Aniagwu, Episcopal vicar of the Arch diocese of Lagos who represented Dr .Martin congratulated the students and the school authority Rev. Aniagwu said the school has come out with the best students who have been equipped with sound results and skills in journalism for employment .


He said with the kind of training received ,there was hope for journalism in Nigeria as the graduating students would change the face of the journalistic profession : ” They have been taught to practice journalism with the fear of God and to report News as it is really is . They have been taught to respect the ethics of the profession and to use any means of communication , including the social media to reach out to the world . They should be positive in their write -ups and show leading examples to the world that journalism is not fiction and negativity .


He called on parents to send their children to the institution that has sound lecturers and equipment to give them quality education that would compete anywhere in the world .
Fr Joe Eruppakkatt, General editor and a faculty member , during mass ,extolled the virtues of the founder Blessed James Alberione and exposed how God used him for the specific apostolate in the Church to spread the Gospel message and values through the mass media and other forms of social communications.


Soon after the Mass everybody moved to the institute for the convocation and also the blessing of the new added facilities. The convocation ceremony was held at the newly constructed Multi-purpose hall of the Institute.
In his opening remarks, the director of the Institute, Fr. Jikson Mullasseril , welcomed all the dignitaries and congratulated the graduates who he described as pioneering students of the media institute. He emphasized on the vision and mission of the institute and also appealed to the youth to choose AICE to pursue their professional media studies.


Fr. Mullasseril said : ” AICE is an offshoot of St. Pauls Institute of Communication Education, SPICE, a leading media college in India. Both belong to the parental body, the Society of St. Paul, which was founded in 1914 at Alba, Italy, by the great visionary and media marvel, Blessed James Alberione to fight bad press with good press, bad literature with good literature. Today we are happy to celebrate his feast and invoke his blessings on all of us.


” Today Society of St Paul uses the powerful means of communication such as the press, cinema, radio, television, audio-visual and digital media for building a better society. AICE is one of such activities of the Society of St Paul. It is committed to imparting career-oriented training to youth in order to help them become the best in the all-encompassing and ever-emerging field of Mass Media. AICE also empowers and encourages them to employ Mass Media for the good of the society.


” AICE is an autonomous educational unit of the Society of St Paul at Lagos, and is affiliated to the Nigerian Union of Journalists, NUJ, the umbrella body of journalists in Nigeria which empowers people to practice journalism anywhere in Nigeria. assured all of the graduates that they were not only empowered with the tools for a thrilling career in media, but also learnt the fine art of value based, socially conscious and responsible media personnel.


The chairman of the occasion, Dr. Okafor, focused that education is key to human development and called on parents to ensure that their children acquire one skill or the other for the good of the society “.
One of the graduates, Eunice Isebeme, who was the best in print Journalism said the course was not an easy task as the school authority made the students work extraordinarily so as to come out with the best.
According to her, the graduates were seriously equipped, not only in theory, value-basedNigeria.also in practical.
