Aina: How World-Class Leader Terry Helped Me Grow My Game

Super Eagles defender Ola Aina has revealed how former Chelsea captain John Terry influenced his developing career.

Aina, 21, played alongside Terry, 37, at Chelsea last season when the Blues won the English Premier League title.

But at the start of the 2017/18 season both players left the club with Aina moving on loan to Hull City and Terry opting to continue his playing career with Aston Villa after quitting Stamford Bridge.

“Terry is a leader and a captain as well. From what I know of him personally, he’s a nice person. John Terry is a good guy,“ Aina told Sky Sports ahead of Hull City’s Saturday Championship clash against Aston Villa.

“I learned a lot [from Terry] on and off the pitch. Mainly on it. He’s a world class defender and taught me various things.

“Having had some time with him last season, Terry told me to just be honest on the pitch, always try my hardest, always work to the best of your ability and always give 100%.”

Aina could make his 37th Sky Bet English Championship appearance for the Tigers when they face Terry’s Aston Villa at the KCOM Stadium.
