Super Eagles and Al Ahly forward Junior Ajayi has reiterated his desire to play for Arsenal even as he is open to a contract renewal at the Egyptian club, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
The former CS Sfaxien forward has two more years left on his contract with the Egyptian champions, but expressed his readiness to open talks on a contract extension.
“I don’t mind renewing with Al Ahly,” Ajayi told Egyptian TV channel CBC Extra. “I still have a couple of years left on my contract but I would be happy if Al Ahly want to renew my contract.”
The Nigerian forward, who got his first national team call-up in March, spoke about the possibility of playing in Europe after the World Cup.
“Arsenal is my favourite club and I wish to play for them in future. Thierry Henry is my all time favourite player too,” Ajayi added.
“I don’t know what will happen in the future. I am currently focused on Al Ahly to accomplish our goals and I’m happy to be at one of Africa’s greatest clubs.”
Ajayi made a cameo appearance in Nigeria’s 2-0 defeat to Serbia in a World Cup friendly in March when he came on for Alex Iwobi with three minutes left to play.
