Akinwunmi: Ikeme Recovering Well, Anxious To Return To Football

By Richard Jideaka, Abuja:
Hospitalized Super Eagles goalkeeper Carl Ikeme is anxious to return to football even as he rues missing the World Cup in Russia, Vice President of Nigeria Football Federation, Seyi Akinwunmi has revealed, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
“Carl is recuperating very well and fast too. If the place he is receiving treatment is not an hospital, you won’t believe that he is sick,” Akinwunmi told Completesportsnigeria.com.
“He is in high spirit when we visited him in the United kingdom. He was so happy and appreciated our visit
“He is wishing the Super Eagles good in Russia even as he would have wished to be part of the team representing Nigeria. He is anxious to return to the game as soon as it is possible. He would
want to continue his football career and I believe he would,” the NFF vice president stated.
On the goalkeeping challenges of the Super Eagles, Akinwunmi stated that since the coaches are satisfied with the four players they have in that area, the option is to continue to work on them with the hope they will be ready in time for World Cup.
Barrister Akinwunmi would however not join in predicting how far the Super Eagles will go in Russia, but is confident that Nigeria will qualify from the group stage, adding the Super Eagles will give it their best shot to write their name in history.
