Akwa United forward Mfon Udoh, Says he’s eager to finish as the top scorer of Nigeria Professional Football League this season and want to add the prestigious Eunisell Boot award to add to his collection at the end of the 2019 season.
Mfon Udoh who left Enyimba to return to his home town club Akwa United at the end of last season has been in sparkling form scoring six goals so far this season to be on top of the league scoring chart.
The former Enyimba man holds the record for the most goals in a single Nigeria Professional Football League season when he finds the back of the net 23 times back in 2014.
He said every striker want to finish on the scoring chat this season because of the financial incentives that come with the award.
“The financial incentive attached to Eunisell Boot is a fortune. Every striker in the NPFL is eyeing the money. In fact, it has made the striking role more competitive,” Udoh, who plays for Akwa United stated.
“The Eunisell Boot has improved performance in the NPFL, especially for strikers. Players and teams are focused on winning.”
Last season’s top scorer Junior Lokosa who has moved from Kano Pillars to Esperance of Tunisia received 200 thousand naira for each of the 19 goals he scored.
