Alvaro Morata scored two goals in Atletico’s 2-0 win over Real Sociedad on Sunday, and he celebrated on Twitter tagging his jersey number – 22.
Afterward, Morata thanked his team-mates for helping him settle so quickly, describing his tenure at Stamford Bridge as ‘a difficult time’.
Morata said ‘Forwards are always judged by their goals, but on the whole, I am happy with how well I have adapted, My team-mates have made it very easy for me to adapt to life at the club.’
Morata moved to Chelsea in a £70m switch from Real Madrid in 2017 but struggled to adapt to Premier League football. He returned to Spain in January with an 18-month loan deal at Atletico and Sunday’s double against Sociedad means he has three goals in his first six games.
Morata believes Atletico will fight till the end, currently, Atletico is second in the La Liga standings, seven points behind leaders Barcelona.
‘When you are not just depending on your own results, you just have to do your job and hope, We have a chance and if we continue in this way we will win every game between now and the end of the season. We will fight to the end.’
