CAF Vice President Mr. Amaju Pinnick has broken the 38-year-old NFF jinx after overcoming three other heavyweights in the race for the top job at the Glass House.
The 38-year-old jinx of the inability of the President of the Nigeria Football Federation to retain his seat in the Glass House was put to test again today in Katsina and Amaju Pinnick broke the curse.
Renowned late football administrator Sunday Dankaro was the last man to have returned as the federation’s helmsman and that happened some 38 years ago.
The former Delta State Football Association chairman beat his predecessor Aminu Maigari, Taiwo Ogunjobi and Chinedu Okoye in what could be referred to as a landslide victory.
Pinnick polled a total of 34 out of 44 votes, while former NFF boss Maigari had eight and Ogunjobi had just two votes.
The 45-year-old administrator becomes the first to be re-elected after 38years as the country’s football federation boss.
Pinnick was initially elected into the office of the NFF in September 2014 – beating Aminu Maigari to the seat.
