There is tension, particularly at the secretariat of Isoko North Local Government Area of Delta State in Ozoro when news of the kidnapped of the vice chairman of the council, Frank Esiwe Ozue filtered.
Workers at the council who resumed on Monday were said to be shocked by the news of the kidnap of the number two citizen of the locality.
The workers were said to have formed cluster groups, discussing the unfortunate incident in hush tunes.
Ozue was reportedly abducted by gunmen on Sunday at Ogor town in Ughelli North Local Government Area of the state.
The victim was said to be alone when his vehicle was waylaid by the gun wielding men who whisked to an unknown location.
He was said to be travelling to Patani area of the state when the incident occurred.
As at the time of filing this report on Monday, the hostage takers were yet to make contact, heightening the tension in the locality.
But the state police command said operatives were already on top of the situation.
The command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe who confirmed the kidnap incident to our correspondent in Asaba, assured that the victim would be rescued.
A family source who also confirmed the incident said “the abductors left his car and phones behind” during the operation.
According to the source, the council vice chairman “was going to the Patani area when he was stopped by the kidnappers along the Iwhre-Ovie/Oviri-Ogor Road off the Ughelli/Evwreni section of the East-West Road.
“The kidnappers left his car and his belongings including his phones at the scene of the incident.
“They (kidnappers) have not reached out to the family since Sunday. The family is very worried about the state of his health.”
