Aribo misses out on Scottish title with Rangers

Nigeria midfielder Joe Aribo has missed out on winning the Scottish Premier Football League (SPFL) title with Rangers after Celtic were declared champions of the 2019/20 season.

The Scottish top-flight has been suspended since early March following the coronavirus outbreak that has ravaged sporting activities globally.

At a board meeting on Monday, the SPFL however, decided to ratify clubs’ decision to bring the season to a close – a move which saw Celtic claim their ninth consecutive title.

Celtic were 13 points ahead closest challengers Rangers and a points per game model was used to determine the final standings of the league.

Aribo who joined Rangers from Charlton Athletic last summer featured prominently for Steven Gerrard’s side in the 2019/20 campaign.

The 23-year-old made 27 league appearances for the Gers and scored three goals in the process.
