Beach Volleyball: Nigeria women volleyball team set for World Championship in Doha

Nigeria women’s beach volleyball team on Wednesday departed the country for the World Championship in Doha, Qatar.

The championship will hold from 12th to 16th October, 2019 and Nigeria is in Group A with Czech, USA and Brazil.
Six players namely; Francisca Ikhedia, Tochukwu Nnorogua, Isabella Laju, Amarachi Uchechukwu, Abigail Abah and Maryann Kelechukwu under the technical tutelage of one of the best Beach coaches, John Iwerima.
Nigeria got a wild card after finishing fourth at the Africa Beach Volleyball Nations Seniors held in Abuja, qualified and took part in the World Beach Championship in Germany.
Nigeria also participated as first times at the world Snow Volleyball in Argentina, scoring an upset by defeating the host country Argentina.
The President of Nigeria Volleyball Federation, Engineer Musa Nimrod wished the team success as they play some of the best Beach Volleyball countries in the world.
Nimrod vowed that he will leave no stone unturned to see that Nigeria is reckoned with in both African and World Beach Volleyball map.
He said, “Brazil women beach volleyball team is currently number one in the World while USA has one of the best team in North America. I am wishing the team the very best; they pulled a surprises against Argentina at the Snow Volleyball Championship, i strongly believe they can upset another big team.
“My dream has always been for Nigeria to be amongst the best beach volleyball team not only in Africa but the world. We are hoping that, they will do Nigeria and Africa proud”.
