The General Officer Commanding, 82 Division, Nigerian Army, Maj-Gen. Emmanuel Kabuk, yesterday said that the army has embarked on continuous training of its personnel to enable them to confront the prevailing security challenges in the country, especially the activities of the Biafra agitators.

 

 

The GOC, who stated this while opening the 82 Division Operations Planning Cadre 2018 at the 82 Division headquarters, said that the training was to key into the Chief Army Staff’s vision: “To have a professionally responsive Nigerian Army in the discharge of its constitutional roles.”

 

Operations Planning Cadre is a yearly 82 Division training exercise aimed at refreshing commanders, commanding officers and staff officers of the division in operational planning. It is also to equip officers with necessary skills to orchestrate and execute operations seamlessly in conventional or asymmetric warfare scenarios.

 

Kabuk said that the training was aimed at teaching, exercising and refreshing the participants who are officers of the division in the art of operational planning. He explained that the essence of the training was “to equip officers with the skills of organizing, planning and executing operations seamlessly either in conventional, asymmetrical warfare or MOOTW situations.

 

“It is important to note that logistics planning, which is key to the successful conduct of operations, has been added to this training,” the GOC said.

 

He, therefore, called on the participants to take the cadre seriously and be very attentive and focused, while making meaningful contributions during the discussion sessions.

 

Owing to the importance of the cadre, the GOC said experienced and dedicated officers were selected to deliver lectures at the Operations Planning Cadre.
