Brazil 1-1 Nigeria: Casemiro cancels Aribo’s goal as Selecao hold Super Eagles in Singapore

Nigeria’s Super Eagles held their own against Brazil in Sunday’s international friendly as the sides settled for a 1-1 result at the National Stadium, Kallang.

Joe Aribo scored the opener (35′) picking up a low pass from Moses Simon inside the box to beat Ederson in goal for Brazil.

It was Aribo’s second goal in as many games for Nigeria since debuting against Ukraine last month.

The first half ended with the Super Eagles in front and Brazil facing a second defeat to only the second African opposition.

But it wasn’t to be and the Selecao cranked it up in the second half scoring just three minutes into after resumption.

Midfielder Casemiro pounced on a loose ball to poke home after Marquinhos’ header came off the post, with Uzoho beaten.

The Nigerian goalkeeper will also not finish the game following a nasty ligament injury – he joined Neymar who was substituted after 12 minutes.

He clashed with Casemiro and landed awkwardly. The impact saw him twist his lower leg and he was substituted.

Young goalkeeper Maduka Okoye replaced the injured Uzoho and though both sides kept going at it, neither managed to break.

Super Eagles Head Coach Gernot Rohr also gave Peter Olayinka his debut, bringing on the striker late in the second half, but the sides eventually settled for a draw.
