Everton submitted a deal sheet to the Premier League in time to be given a two-hour extension in their attempts to sign Arsenal and Super Eagles ace Alex Iwobi.
The Toffees have been pursuing a new winger for much of the summer, and have sadly missed out on a deal to bring Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha to Goodison Park.
A £30million bid was rejected for Iwobi on Wednesday too, meaning Everton risked ending the transfer window without landing that new winger – but it may now be on the cards after all.
It’s claimed that Everton are attempting to rush through a £35million deal for the Arsenal winger, and have manage to get the paperwork in to the Premier League before 5pm.
That deal sheet means Everton now have a two-hour extension to get Iwobi over the line, giving themselves until 7pm to finalise everything.
Iwobi, 23, hit three goals and six assists in the Premier League last season, showing some potential under Unai Emery, but has been pushed down the pecking order by Nicolas Pepe’s arrival.
