Cameroon and Guinea to host 2021 and 2025 AFCON respectively

Guinea has accepted the challenge to host the 2025 AFCON instead of the previously agreed 2023 edition after Cameroon was awarded the hosting right of 2021 edition.

Back In 2014, the Confederation of African Football awarded hosting rights 2019 to Cameroon, While Ivory Coast will stage that of 2021, with  Guinea expected to host the continent for the 2023 edition, but all that has changed since Cameroon was stripped off the hosting right of the 2019 edition.

 

“I am delighted with this change in the organization of the calendar that will see the Nations Cup take place in Guinea in 2025 and I am proud that the president of Guinea, Alpha Conde, has himself accepted,” Ahmad Ahmad enthused.

 

Ahmad Ahmad added the decision was taken to afford the counties enough time prepare for the tournament, with Ivory Coast now expected to host the tournament in 2023.

 

Meanwhile, CAF will announce on Wednesday the countries has won the right to host for 2019 edition between Egypt and South Africa, with the clock ticking to the June 15 kickoff.
