Catholic priest shot dead in Imo, seminarian injured 

A  Catholic priest, Reverend father Jude Egbom of St Patrick’s Parish, Amucha, Orlu archdiocese in Imo State was shot dead in a barbing saloon.

 

 

According to a witness, the priest has hardly settled down to have his haircut when the gunmen numbering about four forcefully entered the salon and shot him at a close range leaving him sprawling on the pool of his own blood.

 

 

It was gathered that the priest who was with a  seminarian at the time of the incident was shot severally in the chest by his assailants causing a stray bullet to hit another passerby, while the seminarian was also said to have sustained serious during the attack.

 

 

The State Police Public Relation Officer, Andrew Enwerem, described the incident as a case of robbery.

 

 

Enwerem said, “the priest went to the salon to have his haircut, but some armed robbers had sighted a flashy car parked outside the salon, they went inside and demanded the keys of the car, as nobody attended to them, they opened fire and killed the priest”

 

 

“it is a case of robbery and the CP has detailed a thorough investigation into the matter, very soon we will arrest those behind the attack,” Ewerem said.
