Champions Man City Spank Swansea, Close In On Points Record

Champions Manchester City trounced Swansea City 5-0 in Sunday’s English Premier League clash at the Etihad stadium.

Goals from David Silva, Raheem Sterling, Kevin De Bruyne, Bernado Silva and Gabriel Jesus secured City’s 28th win of the season.

City, who secured the EPL title last weekend after their closest rivals Manchester United lost 1-0 to West Brom,  got off to a flying start with first half goals from Silva in the 12thminute and Sterling four minutes later.

De Bruyne made it 3-0 with an unstoppable strike from the edge of the penalty area in the 54th minute.

Bernando Silva scored City’s fourth goal in the 64th minute when he fired in a rebound shots after Lukaz Fabianksi had stopped Jesus’ penalty.

Jesus who missed the penalty made it 5-0 in the 88th minute heading in Yaya Toure’s delightful chip. The goal was his 16th of the season.

The win moves Manchester City to 90 points at the top of the table, while Swansea remains 17th with 33 points from 34 games just four points above the relegation zone.

City can break the Premier League points record of 95 points set by Chelsea in 2004/2005 if they win two of their remaining four games.
