Chairperson, Nigeria Women football league, Aisha Falode has described the NWFL Champions shield as a tool to attract sponsors to the women’s football league.
Falode told Cornerstonenewsng.comafter the completion of the champions shield game where Bayelsa Queens emerged champions over the weekend the essence of the competition.
”The champions shield should have been started before the kick start of the season but the delay in our key sponsors slowed down the process” She said.
‘The football administrator said the competition is meant to drive sponsorship deals to the women’s league amongst others.
”We also need to create more competition for the women’s game, which is why we introduce the super four and introduced the champions shield, very soon we are going to be introducing the freestyle in Nigeria Women’s league, we have the ideas, we know what to do ” She concluded.
