Chelsea Legends watch rising Nigeria star shine in UEFA Youth League match

Nigeria football fans might have another reason to keep a keen eye on Chelsea, besides Tammy Abraham and Fikayo Tomori, with Faustino Anjorin the new kid-sensation at the Club.

Anjorin was in action, Tuesday, for the Blues announcing his arrival to the world, by netting a brace in Chelsea’s 3-3 draw with Valencia on matchday one in the UEFA Youth League.

 

The youngster felt no pressure under the watchful eyes of Club legends, Petr Cech and Carlo Cudicini, who “were among the spectators that watched today’s clash at Cobham Training Centre,” per Oliver Harbord [Londonfootball.london/chelsea-fc]

 

 

The visitors opened scoring in 9th minutes through Hugo Gonzalez but Valencia’s lead lasted only four minutes as Anjorin restored parity from the penalty spot after a defender handled a pass from the Nigerian.

 

However, the Spanish outfit were back went to the lead again through Koba Koindredi on 23 minutes only for Anjorin to equalize for Chelsea with another well-taken spot kick nine minutes before half-time.

 

In the 61st minutes, Broja scored for the two-time champions to make it 3-2, before the lively Anjorin was replaced in the 72nd minute.

 

An 84th minute strike from Koindredi, his second of the game, made sure of a point for Valencia.

 

The 17-year-old Anjorin has been in great goalscoring form since the start of this season and his brace against Valencia took his tally to five goals (three assists) in seven games across all competitions.
