Chelsea team news: Rudiger expected to return vs Man City

Chelsea travel to take on Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday afternoon and will have German defender Toni Rudiger return from injury, according to reports.

The Blues have endured inconsistent form of late and Saturday’s Premier League results have seen the London club drop out of the top four after Manchester United beat Fulham.

Chelsea fans will know their side will need to be at its best to get anything at the home of the champions, but the travelling support will be buoyed by the early team news.

Antonio Rudiger sat out the win over Huddersfield Town last weekend and has been nursing a knee injury.

However, the Germany international is set to be available to Maurizio Sarri and could well slot back into the Chelsea starting XI.

The former Roma centre-half has formed a partnership at the back with David Luiz, but the pair have been susceptible at times in recent months.

Chelsea can move back into fourth place by recording a draw, which would move them back onto level points with United.

City are in the midst of a title race and will reportedly have Kevin de Bruyne and Raheem Sterling in their starting XI again after the duo were substitutes in the midweek win over Everton.

Chelsea will hope to finish in the top four this season to ensure a return to the Champions League, while Sunday’s game will also be a dress rehearsal for the League Cup final.
