Chelsea have offered N’Golo Kanté a new contract worth nearly £290,000 a week, which would make him the club’s best-paid player.

 

They have acted to deter interest from PSG in the midfielder who impressed at the World Cup, where he helped France to lift the trophy.

 

Kanté has been offered a five-year deal worth up to £15 million a season, which roughly doubles his present wage and would take him above Eden Hazard who is Chelsea’s top earner on £220,000 a week.

 

Chelsea will not allow Kanté to leave for France and the 27-year-old has not asked to go. He helped Chelsea to win the Premier League title in his first season after joining for around £30 million from Leicester City two years ago…
