CHINESE INVESTORS HAIL THE NIGERIA POLICE

CHINESE INVESTORS HAIL THE NIGERIA POLICE
The Chinese community in Nigeria have expressed confidence in the ability of officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force to protect the interest of foreign investors in the country’s economy.
Speaking on behalf of the Chinese Youths Association of Nigeria,  Mr. Isaiah Zheng Wu made the statement when he led officials of the Association on Sunday to present award to the Area Commander in charge of the police Area  ‘D’  (Mushin) of the Lagos State Police command;  Akinbayo Olasoji; an Assistant Commissioner of Police.
In a letter earlier addressed to the Inspector General of Police, the Chinese community in Lagos had drawn the attention of the police boss to what they described as the “sterling and outstanding performance” of Olasoji.  According to them, “the Chinese community first noticed the officer sometime in August, 2016 when he held the office of the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Ikeja.  The way he carried out his task diligently reveals to us his capability and diligence as an outstanding officer committed to his duties and his nation.  To our amazement, he renovated the office premises and changed the entire environment making it more user friendly and a pleasant place to visit.”
The letter stated further that “the knack for professional ethics, scrupulousness and determination coupled with hard work, have yielded desired result within the shortest time, he took over the mantle of leadership as the Commander Area ‘D’ Mushin.  The uncommon expertise and zeal of which he carried out his duty diligently resulted to the success recorded that spread all over the internet.”
“On July 23rd, 2017 we read on the internet and were also informed by our community members that he and his officers raided notorious black spots at Akala, Olosha, Alakara, Idi-Araba and other areas in Mushin and arrested a large number of drug dealers, thereby crippling the activities of the Baron and cartels at these locations.”
Earlier on 22nd of May, 2017 according to the Chinese “Olasoji had routed out a mole in the service by arresting a medical doctor and a police inspector who was notorious for giving information to armed robbers and assisting them with the required police report to enable them treat bullet wounds.  The notorious Alakara/Idi-Oro and Akala areas of Mushin to us, is more or less like the Chicago of Lagos in terms of crime rate and drugs peddling.  The area had hitherto, been a place where physical assault, bodily harm, murder, smash and grab, house breaking and hemp smoking were the order of the day.”
According to them, these neighbourhood are now becoming a safe place for the innocent and law-abiding citizens, with some good measure of peace and quietness being witnessed daily now, thanks to the relentless efforts of the Area Commander, ACP Akinbayo Olasoji.
The Chinese community in their letter particularly noted the operation of October, 2017 tagged “eradication of criminal hide-out” in Alakara led by Olasoji during which 50 persons were arrested and 48 bags of hard drugs confiscated and also the December, 2017 operation the Area Commander led to intercept six vehicles with contraband including 220 bags of rice, several cartons of frozen chicken and turkey on Daleko Bridge Mushin-Isolo and the subsequent arrest of the smugglers.  This singular action to them was “protecting the nation’s economy from saboteurs.”
With a good record of achievements of the police in the Mushin business area of Lagos under the command of Olasoji, the Chinese community noted that “he has arrested a number of individuals in possession of unlicensed firearms which could have been deployed in criminal activities.’  By his being proactive, he has prevented crime and possible loss of lives.
It was also noted in the letter that “more recently ACP Olasoji and his men struck a gang that specialized in circulating illicit drugs in Isolo axis and its leader arrested and handed over to the National Agency for Food Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) with exhibits recovered.
If there is anything that gladdens the hearts of the Chinese more, that is the fact that Olasoji “holds community interface to carry his host community along and to give relevant information that will help individuals in their everyday lives.  He is in tune with his host community and fosters good relationship with all and sundry thereby projecting a very positive image for the Nigeria Police Force.”
Speaking with journalists during the brief ceremony which took place at the Area ‘D” Command headquarters, Zheng Wu who is the Honorary Chairman, YMCA Entrepreneur, Lagos  said that in view of the numerous achievements of ACP Olasoji, the Chinese Youths Association of Nigeria after deliberations chose to single out the Area Commander for the “Super Cop Award for Diligent Crime Fighting’. He further described Olasoji as a very simple and friendly officer with a listening ear.”
For this exemplary show of love, the Chinese team leader has called on all Chinese residing in Nigeria to always be law abiding and show respect for the government of the country.
Responding to the honour done him, ACP Olasoji who was visibly elated to see the group of Chinese in his office on a  Sunday with such rare award, did not hesitate to dedicate the award to God Almighty, Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris and his immediate boss and Commissioner of Police, Lagos, Imohimi Edgal.
He said, the Chinese had come to him with a letter and newspaper cuttings about the activities of his area command at Mushin and informed him of the award.  “Honestly I feel elated for this recognition given to me by the Chinese Community” he said.
The Area Commander advised them to continue to cooperate with the Divisional Police Officers in the area of their business activities and feel free to do their business in so far as they continue to be law abiding.
