Chioma Ajunwa Makes Surprise Olympic Prediction about Her 24-Year Record

Olympic gold medalist Chioma Ajunwa MON says her 24-year long record as the first Nigerian to win an Olympic gold will be broken by another Nigeria Police Force Athlete.

Ajunwa etched her name in the history books at the 1996 Olympic Games where her jump of 7.12 meters in the Long event won her Nigeria’s first ever individual gold medal.

She remains the only Nigerian to win an individual gold and 24 years later Ajunwa expects the record to fall soon.

In 1996 as a junior Police officer she put the Country on the map, she told Cornerstonenewsng.comthat the Nigeria Police will produce the next “Ajunwa”, who’ll topple her record.

‘Firstly, I am happy the record that was made 24 years ago is still intact,’ said Ajunwa.

‘So, that’s why we are trying all our best to produce another person and I believe with what we have at hand right now the Nigeria Police force will produce another Chioma Ajunwa.’
