Following the sack of Javi Calleja by the Club, Nigeria youngsters, Samuel Chukwueze and his colleagues would now be working under a new manager at La Liga side, Villarreal.
Villarreal has struggled for good results under Javi Calleja in this season’s Spanish La Liga and last weekend 2-3 home loss to Celta Vigo was the final nail to his coffin at the club .
The club has decided to appointed Luis Garcia Plaza as Calleja’s replacement and he’s expected to help the club maintains its La Liga status.
“Villarreal CF has decided to relieve Javi Calleja of his duties as first-team manager,” said a statement on the official website.
“The club wants to thank the coach for his hard work, dedication and professionalism on the Yellows bench after taking charge early on last season, and wish him the best of luck in his sporting career.”
The yellow submarine are in 17th position on la Liga table withthree points above the relegation zone following the latest 2-3 homeloss to Celta Vigo at the weekend.
Meanwhile, Javi Calleja is the fifth coach in La Liga to be hammered this season, following the dismissals of Eduardo Berizzo (Athletic Bilbao), Leo Franco (Huesca), Julen Lopetegui (Real Madrid) and Antonio Mohamed (Celta Vigo).
Luis Garcia Plaza will lead the team out for the first time in the Europa league against CSKA Moskva on Thursday, with a tricky trip to Huesca to follow, before they welcome Real Madrid on 16th of December.
