Clubs have reached agreement to conclude NPFL season – Inyama

Chairman of Abia Warriors Pastor Emeka Inyama says his club is ready to finish the season legally when the current pandemic is over.

The former Abia state sports commissioner insisted that Abia Warriors and other Nigeria professional football league teams are ready to complete the season when government lift the current ban on football activities.

 

The Federal Government placed an indefinite ban on sports events and other social gathering across the country as a result of ongoing coronavirus pandemic and it is unclear when it will be lifted.

 

Meanwhile some have called on the League Management Company to end the season and pronounce leaders Plateau United the champions, but Iyama who disclosed that the club owners have reached unanimous agreement to finish the season.

 

“At the end of the day, everything will depend on the government, Covid19 is not a matter of NFF, Ministry of Sports alone”

 

“It is for the federal government of Nigeria in trying to protect it’s citizens to decide when football should resume”. he noted.

 

“We review the situation, we felt the clubs are ready to play, the clubs are ready to finish the season legally”.

 

It would be recalled that the current Nigeria professional football league campaign was suspended with just 13 matches remaining.
