Covid-19 is a life-changer – Leon Balogun

Super Eagles defender Leon Balogun has disclosed that the coronavirus pandemic presently ravaging the world is indeed, a life changer.

The Germany born Nigerian defender who recently transferred his services to Glasgow Rangers of Scotland from troubled championship side Wigan Athletics expressed bitterness that Nigerians like other countries of the world never took the COVID-19 scourge seriously.

” My dad grew up in Nigeria, which is an amazing country, but also a very troubled country. They have day-to-day struggles and other problems that are bigger than what, to some, might have appeared to be just another virus. So, when COVID-19 was breaking out, Nigerians were not taking it seriously as people in Europe,” Balogun remarked.

On the spiraling effects of the pandemic, he recalled that the fears of losing loved ones have drawn people closer than ever. Adding that it has also opened a new vista for the world, particularly, footballers.

” We’ve been living day to day, doing what most people do, checking the news, hanging on social media, working out, playing table games, reading books and watching TV series.”

On the future of the world after the pandemic, he revealed that he has been learning newer crafts from doing his haircut himself to reading several books and particularly, a book on his chosen path after his soccer career.

” Personally, I’m trying to educate myself. I knew it’s time to sit down and study. I have been reading a book called ‘Business Adventures’, which gives you an insight into how the stock market works,” he disclosed conclusively.
