CP Anti: FraudFraudulent Civil Servants, Politicians To Be Exposed Soon...

Commissioner in charge of  Anti Fraud Unit of the Force Criminal Investigations and Intelligence Department (FCIID), Alagbon, CP Dan Nkem Okoro has said that hard time awaits civil servants and agencies including politicians who engage in sharp practices as he promised to expose and deal with them accordingly.

Okoro disclosed that the Unit would henceforth adopt forensic led investigation to unravel perpetrators of high profile fraud in the country.

 

He, therefore, warned prominent and influential Nigerians who engage, connive or aid fraudulent activities to shun the act or risk exposure and arrest.

 

The Police Commissioner read the riot act weekend at an interactive session with members of the Crime Reporters Association of Nigeria (CRAN) in Lagos.

 

His words: ” For those who felt they cannot be exposed, they should be very careful this time around, our activities are going to be a forensic led investigation.

 

We are going to look into areas that have not been looked into, once we are sure, there will be no sacred cow.N o matter how highly placed you are, we will arrest you once you are guilty.

 

He hinted that the IGP Ibrahim Idris has promised to give the needed muscle to bring fraud to a zero tolerance level, warning that the Unit under his watch is determined to actualize the dream.

 

The police boss emphasized that the Unit would employ international best practices, forensic input, modern day intelligence gathering approaches technology driven investigative methods.

 

According to him, the Unit has the mandate to tackle complicated, multifaceted cyber fraud and fraud in whatever name in general, pointing out that this nature of the crime is not only negatively affecting the country’s economy, but also painting the country in bad light internationally.

 

The FCIID Anti Fraud boss equally warned heads of corporate bodies, banks, oil companies, other financial institutions such as the Stock Exchange, Federal and State government agencies, Embassies, Maritime Operators, Bureau -de- change operators, educational institutions, NGOs, Real Estate/ Land Speculations involved in fraudulent land deals.

 

Further. Okoro urged service providers such as telecommunications providers, hospitality and health sectors of the economy and all those involved in insider’s trading or any form of fraud or fraudulent practice to desist from this moment or face the full wrath of the law.

 

Okoro vowed that no culprit would be spared, warning that ” our investigations would be so thorough as to gain conviction “.

 

In line with the vision of the Inspector General of Police to bring to the barest level the state of fraud in the country and in line with the fight against corruption by the President Mohammadu Buhari, the anti-fraud czar said the Unit is going to be strengthened and repositioned in fighting all manner of cyber fraud, 419 and any other related cases.
