A police sergeant and three others were killed yesterday in Obodeti community in Ndokwa West Local Government Area of Delta State.
A police team had gone to effect the arrest of a suspect,who the police claimed he attempted to murder a prominent person, but the youth in the community tried to prevent the police from arresting him.
Cornerstone news gathered that there was altercation between the police and the locals .During the fracas,a boy described as overzealous, opened fire on the police and a police sergeant was killed and the police fought back.
It was not ascertained who shot the other three persons,but,an indigene, Foster Orji,said the police shot dead three persons and injured many others.
Image maker of the force in the state,DSP Andrew Aniamaka,said the attempted murder suspect and many others have been arrested and were helping the police in their investigation.
