Nigerian born and Chelsea striker, Tammy Abraham has said that he remains committed to his country of birth, England despite being approached by the leadership of the Nigeria Football Federation last week, Cornerstonenewsng.comcan report.
Rumour has it in recent days that the prolific forward will make a decision on his international future in April 2020 but he has unequivocally debunked such insinuation while fielding questions from Journalists.
“I set no such deadline on playing for England or deciding my international allegiance and I remain committed to breaking into Gareth Southgate’s senior squad soonest” Tammy Abraham clarifies.
The Chelsea point man has played for England’s Under 18, U19 and U21 teams and was capped two times at senior level in friendly matches against Germany and Brazil in 2017.
Chelsea Manager, Frank Lampard has however given the striker plenty opportunity to prove his doubters wrong and he has thus far enjoyed a stellar start to the campaign, netting four goals in four Premier League matches but was not called up to the senior team for their upcoming European Championship qualifiers against Bulgaria and Kosovo.
“I strongly believe that I have a realistic chance of making the cut against Czech Republic and Bulgaria and that might make me glued to the 3 lions”.
It would be recalled that the President of Nigerian Foootball Federation, Amaju Melvin Pinnick had last week visited London to hold talks with Abraham and his dad about having him with Gernot Rohr campaign team for the 2022 World Cup Qualifiers.
