Eagles ready to bounce back against Ghana — Salisu Yusuf

Super Eagles Team B coach Salisu Yusuf said his players have to work harder if they are to stand a chance against Ghana in the second leg of the 2023 African Championship Qualifiers.

The Nigerian team lost 2-0 to the Black Galaxies in the first leg played at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium last Sunday.

The Eagles will host the Ghanaians for the deciding tie in Abuja on Saturday and the winner of the tie over two legs will advance to next year’s championship slated for Algeria.

Speaking on the important second leg, Coach Yusuf said he has confidence in his boys, but admitted they have to work twice harder during the game.

“After the game, I told the players they worked hard and the Ghanaians did not outplay them, but they made some mistakes, which Ghana capitalized on.

“I still believe the team can beat the Ghanaians if they worked harder than they did in the first leg,” Yusuf said.

“The only assurance we will give Nigerians is that we are going to work hard to get the victory.”

“You see, we trained for only two weeks and put up a good fight in Ghana. So, I am assuring Nigerians that now that we know the team better, the result will be different. But the assurance is in the field when we have done it,” he said.
