Eagles will bring back the bronze medal – Imama

Super Eagles assistant coach, Imama Amapakabo has submitted that players of the Super Eagles are ready for tonight’s third-place match against Tunisia at the 2019 AFCON, as they have put the loss against Algeria behind them, being professional players.

Nigeria, in her 18th appearance at the Cup of Nations, has made the semi-finals for the 15thtime – a remarkable record of almost always getting to the business end of the championship. The country has failed to reach the semi-finals only thrice before: 1963 (debut, in Ghana), 1982 (Libya), 2008 (Ghana).

Speaking with brila.net, Imama also called for seizing this opportunity, while strongly believing that winning the bronze tonight would be something to be proud of.

“Everyone here is a professional and we know how to deal with such issues. That’s done and dusted on our end. We will be able to come out clean and stand up tall to make sure we do our country proud”.

“If you fight a lion, you have plenty of scars but the most important thing is that when you are going back to your people, you go back with at least the tail despite the plenty scars so as to prove to your people that you actually fought with a lion”.

“Going back home with a bronze is something we should be very proud of”.
