Eagles Wings FC has been drawn against Bendel Insurance Football Club of Benin in the 2018 Edo Football Association (EFA) AITEO CUP Competition Round of 32, as the Benin Arsenal prepares to defend the Cup they won last year.
The well attended final Draw Ceremony which took place on Friday at Wesley Hotel, Benin City, Edo State. Saw Football Stakeholders across the State brainstorming on how to improve the quality of the competition with the view of taking the round leather Game to the Grassroots.
Speaking at the Draws,acting Chairman of Edo Football Association, Alex Olaye,Stated that the Football Association will improve on the successes recorded in 2017,he urged aggrieved Teams to channel their complains through the appropriate Quarters and concluded by notifying participating Teams that the 2018 Competition will not be Played at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium due to ongoing Renovation of the Edifice.
” Be informed that this year competition is not going to be played at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium,due to the ongoing Renovation work by Edo State Government, ably led by His Excellency,Mr Godwin Obaseki. ”
On his part, Edo State Football Association Secretary, Ajibola Emmanuel, said the FA is well prepared for this year’s Competition, commending the level of Teams participation which he attributed to the Association’s performance in 2017.
“This is the season of the Aiteo Cup and the Association is fully prepared,you can see that the number of participating Team’s have increased, which is due to the FA’s performance a year ago “.
A Total of Thirty Five Team’s, comprising Thirty Two male and Three Female Club sides in Edo State will participate in the 2018 AITEO Cup and Defending Champions Bendel Insurance Football Club, are in high Spirit to Defend the Trophy and represent the State at the National Level.
