Evelyn Akhator: Basketball gradually closing the gap on football in Nigeria

Evelyn Akhator believes that Basketball is gradually gaining more popularity and acceptance in Nigeria following the recent success of the D’tigress s and their male counterparts.

Both the D’tiger and D’tigress are currently African champions in their respective categories and have achieved success in the last major tournaments they attend.

 

While Nigeria Football team me failed in their bid to qualify for the upcoming Olympics games, D’tigers and D’tigress will be flying the flag of the at the event.

 

Akhator who spoke to Brila FM in a live Instagram live session, however, believes Basketball is gradually gaining acceptance in the country, and playing at the next Olympics games will surely help the growth of the game.

 

“Football is big and very huge, not just in Nigeria but in Europe as well, but basketball is not far away, she said.

 

” Basketball is still growing in the sense that we qualified for the Olympics and it is one of thing that we give us the publicity because football won’t there,” she told Brila FM.
