Family of Waidi Obidairo, who was murdered recently in Agoda village, a sprawling community in the Ewekoro Local Government Council Area of Ogun State has cried to the Inspector-General of Police Muhammed Adamu, to bring his killers to justice.
The deceased, 45-year-old father of six, was allegedly hacked by his killers on December 4, 2018, over alleged kingship tussles.
According to a family member: “On December 4, 2018, a gang of armed hoodlums, led by one Ayo attacked Waidi and others, who had gone to
“They were attacked with machetes and other dangerous weapons. M
However, the quick response to a distress call by ACP Adegoke Fayoade, who raced to the scene, had a positive impact on the situation as the hoodlums were alleged to be on the verge of setting the captured “fugitives”, including the lifeless body of Waidi, ablaze, when he arrived with his men, which included the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Ibogun.
” Waidi had gone to the village in company with nine other persons in preparation for the coronation when tens of the opposing factional group, armed with various lethal weapons, ambushed them, the resultant effect of which was hacking of their main target, Waidi, also known as Apase, ostensibly for his perceived role in seeing the dream come true.
The other nine persons had their respective bitter tastes of the hostility; they were brutally macheted, and sustained varying degrees of cuts.
The family has called on the IGP to wade into the matter and bring the killers of Waidi to justice ; ” Sir please help us do justice on this issue as Justice delayed is justice denied . We know those who killed our brother and the reason they killed him “.
The Inspector-General of Police (IGP’s) Monitoring Team, code-named “Striking Team”, with their office within the Lagos State Police Command in Ikeja Lagos, has, however, vowed to bring the perpetrators to book, despite the surreptitious moves of some notable and influential politicians to sweep the case under the carpet.
The family solicitor, Chief Adekunle Funmilayo , in a petition to the IGP, called the attention of the police chief to the bestiality, and prayed for actions that would help to bring the assailants to justice.
