Female Assistant referee who suffered hot water attack from fans won’t give up

Rosana Paz, who officiates in the Argentina Liga Sanjuanina (sixth tier), was running down the touchline in her role as assistant referee when she suffered a sickening attack; an angry fan ‘threw boiling water over her’ she continued officiating till the end of the game and wishes to continue as a referee despite the attack.

The female official, who is 46 and works as an administrative assistant alongside her football role – insists that she has not been put off refereeing and instead wants to continue.

 

She says ‘Whether it’s a man or a woman who is attacked, this type of thing can’t happen, But I’m not going to give up. I’m going to carry on. “

 

she has gotten past the horrible experience and can’t wait to back in action ‘It’s hard being a woman in football, but I’m not going to give in. I hope I’m picked to referee this weekend.’
