FIBAACCW: Angolan team still the Biggest Threat – Akaraiwe

First Bank Center Nkem Akaraiwe believes Angolan side Inter Clube are one of the biggest challenges they face at this year’s FIBA Africa Women’s Champions Cup.

The Elephant girls defeated Interclube 70-61 to finish third in the championship last year and Akaraiwe is hoping for more of the same.

So far, the Nigerian champions are through to the quarter-final and next face Cameroon’s FAP Basketball on Friday.

On paper the Peter Ahmedu-tutored side are expected to grab a win, but the 2018 Nigeria Women’s Basketball League’s MVP says they’re taking each game at a time and keeping their focus.

“The Angolans are a very strong side, they are an experienced side; not like some of the teams we’ve played this year.

“They have top pro players and have been together for a while, but I don’t think they’re unbeatable; we did it before and I believe we can do it again.

“If we play well defensively as well as our offense, I think the win will come.

“But right now, we’re taking our games one step at a time, we have the Cameroonians Today and we want to win.”
