MATCH Hospitality AG, the exclusive worldwide hospitality rights holder appointed by FIFA for the 2018 FIFA World Cup, has declared as illegal the activities of tourist and hospitality companies claiming to sell packages to Nigerians ahead of the tournament in Russia.
In a letter addressed to the Nigerian market co-signed by Chairman Jaime Byrom and Chief Operating Officer, Pascal Portes, on Friday, March 23, MATCH Hospitality restated that the only company allowed to sell hospitality packages in Nigeria is Integral.
“MATCH Hospitality AG has appointed Integral Sponsorship and Experiential Marketing Limited as its Exclusive Sales Agent for Nigeria. For the avoidance of doubt, MATCH Hospitality wishes to confirm that no other entity in Nigeria is permitted to sell tickets or official ticket inclusive hospitality packages for the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia,” the statement said.
MATCH Hospitality and Integral unveiled their exclusive partnership in Lagos in February. The Nigerian company was appointed through a letter from Thierry Weil, FIFA Director of Marketing, in June 2016.
With the tournament 82 days away, many tourism companies have been misleading fans about their ability to provide hospitality packages to Russia.
“Customers wishing to purchase official tickets to the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia may only purchase them via www.fifa.com, or as part of an authorised hospitality package or authorised tour operator package. Customers wishing to purchase official ticket inclusive Commercial Hospitality Packages for the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia may only purchase from Integral Sponsorship and Experiential Marketing Limited,” the statement added.
