Flooding: Jubilations as Labour Party candidate, Onowu White donates medicals to IDP camp

There were wild jubilations at Umueri Unity Hall Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp when the Labour Party candidate for House of Assembly Dr. Festus Chukwuemeka donated cartons of drugs to them.

Dr. Chukwuemeka seeking to represent Anambra West Constituency at the state Assembly and Remichuks Pharmacy medical team donated over 300 cartons of malaria and Typhoid drugs, saying the donation of the medicals became necessary because the internally displaced persons are exposed to harsh weather.

“It is not easy to adapt to this kind of environment, especially when it was not planned but forced by the flood,” Dr. Chukwuemeka said. “The people are exposed to all forms of environmental challenges that may cause malaria, typhoid, and other diseases. So it is my hope that these drugs will help in the prevention and curing of these diseases which will invariably help to cushion the challenges of being forced outside one’s home.”

Speaking on why he wants to go to the House of Assembly, Onowu White said,
“I am a successful entrepreneur in the private sector. I have thriving businesses. I am the Chief Executive Officer of Remic Chuks Enterprise, a conglomerate that offers various human services and employment. These include Remi Chuks Pharmacy and Stores, Remi Chuks Laundry and Logistics, and Remi Chuks Salon. I served as the Chief Protocol Officer to the Honourable Commissioner for Lands Anambra State Government who is a principal partner at Essential Cargo handling and logistics.

“So you can see that I did not join politics because I am idle or hungry. I joined so that I can use my experience as a go-getter to solve the numerous infrastructural problems facing my Constituency. Anambra West is the least developed local government area in the state, if not in the whole of Nigeria.”

Chukwuemeka said the challenge of flooding can be solved if the Federal Government can take the dredging of River Niger, seriously. “The Federal Government should dredge River Niger. Apart from other economic benefits, it will help to reduce the effect of flooding. The human and material resources lost yearly as a result of flooding can be stopped. They can also build another Dam to hold the water when it is released by Cameroon. These are part of the issues I will join others to bring to the front burner when elected.”
