Gas explosion kill 2 , injures 5 in Lagos

Two persons have died while five were injured in an explosion that occurred at the Orile-Iganmu area of Lagos State.

The incident was said to have occurred at about 4: 30 pm, around Wema Bank Bus Stop, in between Coker and Alafia bus stops, in Ajeromi Ifelodun Local Government Area.

According to a witness, the incident happened as a result of the activities of a welder who was working on a truck parked in the area.

“At about 4:30 pm this evening a welder working on a truck parked in front of Atlas Company was killed. As he was welding the truck, it exploded.


” The welder and one other person died instantly while six others who sustained serious injuries were quickly rushed to a nearby hospital. The injured persons including a driver who was stuck in gridlock as a result of the incident were affected by high tension wire that cut off due to explosion. The high tension wire cut off the driver’s hand”.


Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer ( PPRO), SP Bala Elkana, said, he was yet to be briefed on the incident.
