Get Ejaria to join Eagles, not Eze – Rohr tells NFF

Nigeria national team coach, Gernot Rohr has urged the Nigeria Football Federation to get Reading’s Ovie Ejaria rather than Eberechi Eze for the Super Eagles.

Like Eze, Ejaria was born in England to Nigerian parents and has represented England at U21 level.

The Reading’s on-loan midfielder who is valued at £1m has shown versatility at the Madejski Stadium playing 17 games across all competitions for Mark Bowen’s side.

Rohr has however called on the Nigerian football governing body to prioritize a move for the Liverpool loanee over a Eze.

“He’s (Ovie Ejaria) a good player no doubt and I will prefer him in the team now than the player (Eberechi Eze) the Federation are in talks with,” Rohr revealed.

“We will contact him and know what must be done to make him play for us. He is a better player than Eze.”

“My fears are if we start chasing him in the media, England may join the race and it could be difficult.”

Meanwhile, Eze has all but declined from playing for Nigeria after informing NFF President, Amaju Pinnick that he wants to focus solely on club football.

Pinnick met with Eze in London last month in a bid to lure the 21-year-old to switch allegiance to Nigeria but he requested for the chance to continue to focus on his club career which is going well so far, and that further progress will be made in due course

He has been impressive for QPR in the English Championship this season scoring six goals and providing four assists in 18 games.
