Ghanaian coach, Yaw Preko eyes NPFL return

Former head coach of FC Ifeanyi Ubah, Yaw Preko, Says he’s open to a return Nigeria professional football league again, After Confirming his representatives was contacted by NPFL clubs on his availability to manage in country again next season.

Yaw Preko replaced Brazilian Rafael Everton as FC Ifeanyi Ubah chief coach, spent almost two seasons at the Club but couldn’t get the desired results and subsequently fallen out with the big players and hierarchy of club and was later fired.

 

However, The Ghanaian gaffer returned to his home land to manage the Ghana’s U17 national team where they lost to Golden Eaglets of Nigeria in the final of zonal qualifications to miss out in next year’s AFCON U17 championship in Tanzania.

 

While speaking on his likely next destination, The 2016 Aiteo cup semi-finalist said nothing is concrete from Nigeria so far.

 

“Yes, its true, I’m hearing some clubs are showing interests through my representative, but nothing concrete for now, why not, I’ve been there and I know how it is in Nigeria, but we are weighing options for now, and soon will chose a better one.

 

Preko also revealed he rejected an offer to 2018 CAF Confederations Cup campaigners Enyimba international of Aba to take over the Black Starlets coaching role, shortly after his dismissal from Ifeanyi Ubah.

 

“When I left FCIU around November, I could have joined Enyimba for the new season when I newly to took over the U17 in Ghana, but I couldn’t make up my mind, they (Enyimba) even gave me two weeks but I couldn’t give them concrete response due to my situations with the national team then, but now a couple of clubs are interested in Nigeria, we are looking at which one is better, which one will suit my style, we’ll see.”

 

Preko stressed further, praising the Nigerian league for its competitiveness and think the league is better than that of Ghana and a return won’t be a bad idea.
