The Commissioner of Police, Edo State Police Command, Mr. Johnson Kokomo, has attributed the success of the last Gubernatorial Election to God and the wisdom of the Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Mohammed Adamu.
The CP said there was really fear, tension and apprehension, but God with his infinite wisdom used the IGP Adamu to supervise security before, during, and after the election.
Kokumo who spoke while receiving an award ‘Champion of democracy’ by an online publication, Cornerstonenewsng.com at his office, said:” Really, there was fear, tension, apprehension before the election, but God with his infinite wisdom used the proactive IGP to deploy a DiG, AIG and other CPs to coordinate with me. I thank God Almighty and the IGP for the success of the election. I am happy that no life was lost. I thank the contestants and their supporters for conducting themselves in a peaceful manner. I want to commend the indigenes.
” I am happy with this award and I am dedicating it to the proactive; indefatigable and workaholic IGP. I also dedicate the award to the Nigeria Police Force and Edo State Police Command in particular. We have demonstrated that we belong to a responsible organization”.
Earlier, the Consultant, Cornerstones, Prince Albert Akpor, and President Crime Reporters Association of Nigeria, Mr. Odita Sunday, said they were happy with the way and the peaceful manner the police comported themselves during and after the election and called on the force to replicate what transpired in Edo State in the oncoming Ondo State gubernatorial election.
Akpor said:
” Really there was tension and apprehension, but the police did not disappoint the people. We are happy that the Ondo State Commissioner of police was on the ground in Edo State during the election. We want him to use the experience he gathered during the Edo State election for the Ondo Election”.
