The joy of the family of Mr. Peter Chibundu did not know bounds when, recently, they danced vigorously during the dedication of their triplets at the Society of Saint Paul Catholic Church, Obawole, Estate, Iju, Lagos.
The whole church, including the priests, danced along with the Chibundus and, after the mass, a feast was organised in a popular hotel nearby.
A joyous Chibundu, who spoke after the children’s dedication, said: “I am so happy today and my family is highly elated and I know that the Church is also happy for my family. We are dancing to the glory of God. What God did for my family cannot be quantified. No words or dancing can equate it.
“My wife and I waited for 20 years before God gave us the three wise men. I asked for one, but God gave me three in one day. I have been married for 20 years. God gave me a female child after seven years and gave me another female, but I needed a complete home. So, my wife and I were praying for a male child. When my wife became pregnant and we went for tests, I was shocked when the scanner indicated that she had twins, but before I could utter a word, the man in charge said, ‘Sir, they are three boys, not two.’
“I was so grateful to God as I did not doubt the word of God that says that there is nothing impossible before God. I was only thinking of any special thing that I did for God to merit the triple blessings, but I could not find any. What now came to my mind was grace, unmerited favour.
“You know, in this part of the world, people would tell you to visit one place or the other once they know that you are having challenges, but I refused to compromise my faith and trust in God. I am an ardent Catholic and I was brought up in a Christian family. So, I believe so much in the word that God never fails or disappoints those who trust him. I knew that God who did it for Hannah would do it for us. I was taught that the God of old that did it for Elizabeth and Job would do it for us, and I remembered the word of God that says that there would not be barren women among his people.
So, I remained unshakable and fervent in prayers until he answered my family.
On the family’s status, given its new members, whom he calls the Three Wise Men, the happy father said: “Three children at the same time is not an easy task. Right from the day my wife conceived, I turned a pregnant woman and a nurse too. In fact, I was doing so many things at the same time. My advice is that men should not run away when they hear that their wives put to bed triplets.
They should not abandon their wives and flee from the hospital; rather, they can make appeals for assistance. God will bring good people that will come to their rescue. For my family, God has been so faithful, providing all that we need to take care of the wise men.
“For those who are looking for the fruit of the womb, I use myself as a point of contact for God who did it for me to do it for them. I did not do any special thing for God. It was just his grace and mercy. The God who did for me will do it for them. Above all, I want them to have absolute trust in God. Those who trust in God are like Mount Zion that cannot be moved. As the mountains surround Jerusalem, so shall the angel of the living Lord surround those who trust in the lord.”
Rev. Father Gerald Ndakat, priest of the Society of Saint Paul Catholic Church, said:
“It was the Lord’s doing. You may need something from God but he might not give you instantly, until the appointed time. We should always wait for God’s time. God’s time is the best. I am praying for those who are searching for the fruit of the womb to always remember that there is nothing impossible before God when you put your trust in him.”
After the dedication, church members, friends, and guests relocated to a choice event center for refreshments.
